A loudspeaker for Anders

"I built a pair of speakers and got myself a new hobby" |
|
I lived in the belief that I had quite good speakers and was happy with that. Then one day I was invited to a colleague to listen to his home built equipment. After this my view on high end was changed forever. This was the best hifi that I ever had listened to. After this session Lennart convinced me to build my own speakers. He told me that the actual speakers in my enclosures were good, so I just needed to build new enclosures. This little “just needed” became a long adventure in woodworking, coil winding and lots of listening sessions. The enclosure part I was able to do myself. We had decided to build a similar enclosure as the World Wide Webb famous Proac 2.5 Clones so there was an overwhelming amount of info how to do this. As I had no experience in building electronics and particular not in designing cross over’s, this part would have been impossible for me to do without Lennarts help. He had my enclosures with speakers for several weeks and I visited him lots of times to do listening sessions. Every time he had done some tweak to the cross over, and every time they sounded a little more open, a little more natural and a little more perfect. I am not sure how he ended up with the final design but he often told me that he spoke with the speakers and asked them how they wanted things to be to feel comfortable. In the beginning I thought he was crazy but nowadays I really think that he is able to do it as the result is so amazing. Today I have had my speakers over a year and I am still very satisfied with them. I am listening to music almost every day and that did not happen with my old speakers. They make me enjoy listening to music!! That is in my mind the best judgment a pair of speakers can get. |
