I build my first tube gear twelve years old. There was no choice. A single germanium transistor cost more than several tubes. Transistors became affordable in the sixties. I worked with transistor amplification for the next thirty years. Amplifiers became small, cool, cheap and stereo. Power outputs became three figured. Distortion numbers excelled. Did solid state amps sound good - I mean really good? No. I recently re-discovered vacuum state amplification. Triode amps are my favorites. Thus, you will see a few of them here… |

| speakers |
|
My first tube amp was an EL86-based OTL. It needed a speaker. I fitted an 800-ohm speaker by Philips in a closed box. I used it for a couple of years, but then came stereo. During the following years I built a few speaker pairs and spent quite some time with a pair of “coal-box” speakers designed by Stig Carlsson. My current speakers are designed for maximum joy and beauty. Their performance is no less than stunning. |

A few utilities, like filters and volume controllers, are always handy. Since I tend to build all my gadgets, you will also find a few of them presented here. |
